NL Texas Holdem Poker- Howard Lederer?
Howard Lederer was born into in a family of 5 in which he liked participating in different card games when he was young. He discovered himself getting really competitive in these card games as he was playing his dad. After finishing secondary school, Howard made a decision to place college on hold for a little while and moved to New York to participate in some formidable chess. While competing in chess, he was brought in to a poker game going on in the back of the room. Howard’s first 2 years were tough as he would play many hours and don’t win a majority of the time. He earned some extra cash by being an runner for the poker players. He believed he could improve his game by balancing his life outside of poker. He brought about an attempt to acquire more sleep and concentrate even more on the game.
The actual improvement in his abilities happened when he started betting at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the the most favorable players would often wager against one another. He was able to access some of the greatest players in chess. With their help, Howard Lederer would tweak his strategic thinking techniques. Howard applied these strategy ideas to the game of No-Limit Texas Holdem.
He also assisted his sibling Annie Duke master the game of poker. Annie was an excellent student of the game as she would consistently be asking questions about the right way to make the proper decision. Howard Lederer told Annie to move out to Vegas and play in the WSOP competition. Annie is one of the greatest female players the poker arena today. Howard relocated to Sin City in 1993 and competed in cash games for the subsequent decade. When the WPT grew in popularity, he made the decision to compete in more tournaments.
