NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender on the planet by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he possibly could about poker. He would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse feedback from other people destroy his goal of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.
He began playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an undying love for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Although Phil has won some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
