No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender in the world by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he could about poker. He would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental comments from others destroy his dream of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
He began playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is very humble about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
