NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the planet by most of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn whatever he could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental comments from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the best poker players in the world.
He began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his success. Phil knows he makes errors every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
