No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn whatever he could about the game. He would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.
Phil started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning period and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Although Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
