No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse feedback from other people destroy his goal of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.
Phil began playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning opportunity and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
