No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn anything he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse comments from other people annihilate his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
Phil started playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always strives to improve.
Although Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
